The Green Bottle Method is a tool developed by Alexis J. Cunningfolk to promote economic justice and provide a framework for therapists and other service providers to offer sliding scale pricing for transformational healing through mental health counseling.
Here are the three categories within the Green Bottle Method:
The highest dollar cost reflects the true cost of therapeutic services, which our practitioners would charge in the absence of a sliding scale. This category is for you if you have access to financial security, personal savings, own property, or rent a higher-end home, and can comfortably cover your basic needs while indulging in “wants.”
The middle cost is for you if you have access to a steady income but may struggle to build savings, carefully considering how you spend expendable income on items like new clothes or vacations. If you fall into this category but can seek financial support from family or friends, please utilize those resources before relying on the sliding scale for mental health counseling or psilocybin therapy.
The bottom cost is intended for those who would otherwise be unable to afford or access these mental health counseling services, including psilocybin therapy, without a considerably lower price point. You may struggle to meet basic needs such as housing, healthcare, food, and childcare, live paycheck to paycheck, and face significant debt that limits your ability to fulfill essential requirements.
